Aspects show how we are all wired and put together. They are the ‘hard-wiring’ patterns within us which show things like health, personality and even the kinds of events we are most likely to meet.
Each aspect also contains a lyrical story in its DNA, and the arc of that story is often the baseline of an astrology reading.
Understanding aspects for yourself is deeply revelatory as you learn how to turn any story within from trauma to dharma. Being able to discuss aspects thoroughly and meaningfully with your clients is a crucial skill for any professional astrologer to have.

ASPECTS AT A GLANCE
Conjunctions are pure alchemy where two forces become one when melted together in the same pot. Planets on a conjunction cannot operate alone and they will teach you the magic of true cooperation- even with the most unlikely forces.
Oppositions are about relationships and events you must meet in the world. People with many oppositions are no stranger to opposing views and the need to delineate ‘self’ from environmental circumstances. Relationships and environments challenge and teach you. Oppositions are invited to heal by owning the disowned part of self on the other side of the opposition - by allowing it to become a conjunction.
Squares show us where there are two parts of a person in conflict. This internal conflict is the bedrock for self awareness. Squares are invited to heal through fully realizing the role of each part and letting each part accept the other. The healing is in self-awareness and self-acceptance. Squares teach you to find creative solutions in life and can heal in the into the nature of a trine.
Trines show us the parts of a person that have garnered skills and talents. They carry a grace, and these two parts of you operate in a fluid lockstep relationship. Often people do not recognize their own gifts so it’s important to shine a light here as a reader. We often build our character from our squares and oppositions as they do force us to delineate self.
Sextiles are one of my favorite aspects. They represent potential you possess that you will also need to put some effort into. Often they can become more highly functioning than trines as the effort put in keeps them ‘online’. Your sextiles are the helping hand that reaches out when you most need it, though it’s up to you to pull yourself up with your own strength.
A Quincunx shows us two parts of you that share neither mode or element. They show us where there will be internal discomfort. Out of this internal tension, we are propelled to create. This friction is unlike the square and opposition because both parts want to remain in their integrity. This aspect often speaks to health and both parts must also be fully embraced.
